This sounds like a bit of a laugh...

Update: see this entry for more details.

Internet portal Lycos has made a screensaver that endlessly requests data from sites that sell the goods and services mentioned in spam e-mail.

Lycos hopes will it make the monthly bandwidth bills of spammers soar by keeping their servers running flat out.

The net firm estimates that if enough people sign up and download the tool, spammers could end up paying to send out terabytes of data.

Steve be fixed! Yay!

Well, it wasn't the clutch... it was the alternator. Or rather the screws that fix the alternator to the rest of the car...

Apparently my alternator was hanging off. They also gave the engine a bit of a spring clean and found that one of my spark plugs wasn't working, hence fixing another problem I never knew I had.

Wasn't a bad price, a little over 40 English Pounds, including labour and VAT.

So there you go.

Oh, I'm now also a member of a web ring, the Leeds Blogs one to be precise. Using the little box on the left entitled "Linkage for Leeds" you can surf around other blogs from Leeds. At the time of writing, I think there are 18 other sites in the ring, although I am one of 5 still waiting to be accepted even though I've been accepted... bit nice to share web space with other people. I like it! All cosy and warm...

Steve! Noooooooo...

My car is at the garage. Not happy. That's Steve by the way, I feel if you give things names they work better.

Obviously, that's not always true, especially now Steve has broken.

It's had a rattle going on for a while, but now the whole engine's shaking and making very odd noises. Especially at low revs. My money's on the clutch.

Still it's at a garage that I trust. And they call it the "little red Fiesta"! 'Tis a nice thing. Will let you know how things go...

A few changes...

I trust you are all in fine fettle.

Have been playing around with things and made a few changes. Nothing hugely spectacular. The comments thingy should be working now - although all comments MUST be approved by me first so they may take a little while to appear. If you experience any trouble or unexpectedness then let me know somehow. I'm guessing that the people who have the ability to view this at the current time have contact details for me.

Other things are just slight changes to wording on the links down the side to make them more... me!

Isn't this great? Except for the obviously fickle wife of course...

"A car park attendant with just 53p in the bank bought a lottery ticket on the day he was declared bankrupt - and won £47 million.

Juan Rodriguez, 49, had £23,500 debts when he hit the largest ever New York state lottery jackpot reports The Sun.

The stunned Colombian immigrant said: "One minute I'm broke, now I've so much money I don't know what to do with it."

His wife Iris had kicked him out of their home in Queens, New York, because he could not keep track of his money. She has now taken him back."

This is the first time I've updated any site without sitting at home... don't ya just love technology?!

I'm sat at uni, using a steam powered computer to type this on what must be quite possibly the most unresponsive keyboard in the world... 'tis nice to know that my fees are being put to good use...

Welcome to my blog!

Hello one and all... Welcome to a new feature on thomasjpitts.co.uk.

If this is working then great! It's been a productive day...

For those who don't know, a blog is basically an online diary. Now I know I'm rubbish at updating other sites of mine, but this one should be easier. In theory.

In time, I hope to add other people to the site - give them log in codes and let them air their views here too. Add a bit of diversity. After all, who wants to read my ramblings all the time? Actually, I can think of one person who does read my ramblings all the time but thinks this is a bad idea. We shall see.

Anyway, that's the first entry done. In time I'll introduce myself and let you into my world.
